2002. Language, Ideology and Power: Language-Learning Among the Muslims of Pakistan and North India  Karachi: Oxford University Press.  

This is a scholarly book on the history of language-learning among South Asian Muslims. It looks at the connection between world view, ideology and language texts both in British India and Pakistan. A survey of 1426 students of schools and madrassas on their attitudes towards languages and other policies of Pakistan (such as the rights of minorities and women as well as militancy in Kashmir) is included.
